Unable To Use Google Play Store On sony Ericsson Xperia X10i? Here’s The Solution

Its actually been over 2 months since I purchased the sony ericsson Xperia X10i android phone and I actually wrote a comprehensive review of the mobile device here on this blog. If you read through the post then you probably would have noticed that I stated been unable to use Google Play Store App on the sony ericsson Xperia X10i.

Well, that’s actually one of the basic disadvantage in the device but i thank God I have got a solution to that.

If you are quite conversant with android phones apps, you obviously would know that the Google Play Store Market app is the official download market for android phones just as blackberry world for blackberry phones, itunes for iPhones etc. Without this app functioning on your android phone, its next to impossible to really find and install interesting apps as most download links to apps always redirect to the google play store.

During my early stage of using the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i, Google Play Store did not come pre-installed which isn’t supposed to be so. Oh well, I actually did the download myself online via the inbuilt browser, but after downloading and installing, the app just won’t show me what I expected(apps to choose from of course), instead I would get an error stating ‘an account is needed, do you want to create one now?’ Upon tapping the yes option, the app would automatically close itself.

Solution To Not Been Able To Use Google Play Store On Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i

I am gonna be very simple and straight here. If you are running on stock android 2.3.3 OS on your SE Xperia X10 device and Google Play Store isn’t working for you, the only solution is installing a custom ROM.

Personally, I installed a Custom Rom Called CyanogenMod 7 and that has fixed all apps issues expect for the fact that am unable to use my phone as Hotspot for my laptop via wifi but apart from that, all others are good to go.

Do read my comprehensive post on How I Installed Cynanomod7 on Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i which will guild on how to do same on your device.
