When you hear the sentence, ‘How To Unbrick Sony Ericsson Xperia X10‘, it can also be referred to as, how to repair Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, in other words, unbrick means repair while brick means destroy.
Following the release of BBM on android devices, I had always tried devising a means to installing BBM on my sony ericsson x10i which runs on android 2.3 gingerbread but all to no avail. Yes I am very much aware that BBM according to Blackberry INC can only work on android 4.O+ which is android ice-cream sandwich upwards but then, it wouldn’t be an offense if I try it out on my device.
I thought the only way I could make BBM work on my gingerbread device was to install custom roms having ice-cream sandwich OS since my android device doesn’t have an official 4.0 OS update neither would one be coming to it in the future :-(.
I searched through on XDA forum for some custom roms, although I was able to get some which were described as working okay, there was a problem. Installing any of these roms requires that you unlock the device bootloader.
Although there were tutorials on how to unlock the bootloader on SE Xperia X10i, my device just couldn’t have the bootloader unlocked and alongside trying other processes, I ended up bricking the phone.
Too many reports I had read on the internet kinda made me scared when I realized I had bricked the phone but then, no harm in research. I was able to unbrick the phone and restore it to the earlier stage like when I newly acquired the phone.
How To Unbrick Sony Ericsson Xperia X10
Unbricking your SE device is very easy as long as you have the requirements.
The basic requirements are:
- PC Computer with sony ericsson PC companion latest version installed.
- Sony ericsson USB Cord
- Your bricked device
- Internet connection
- Your uttermost concentration.
Once you’ve got all these in place, repairing or unbricking your SE becomes a child’s play.
Now, I am going to make it very simple. The simplest way to repairing your SE is by re-installing the software update.
Connect your brick SE Xperia X10i to your pc via its USB cable and port, Open Sony Ericsson PC Companion (Upon launching, the software will auto-update to the latest update if it hadn’t done that before).
When successfully opened, Choose Support Zone(Start/Begin) => updating the phone software, it will pop up a message ‘phone not found‘.
Search for blue marked: Repair phone. Click on it and follow the on-screen instructions and your device should be fixed within 30 minutes depending on your network speed.
As funny as it may sound, I think I bricked my sony ericsson xperia X10i like three(3) times and unbricked it same number of times, it seemed more like fun to me as I used the device as an experiment, after all, I can always unbrick it which will obviously fix whatever issue that will occur. But its just a shame the device has now been stolen *sad face*.
