Diamond Bank Internet Banking Email Scam – Alert!
Hello, please do not allow the title of this post scare you. Yeah I know its Diamond Bank Internet Banking Email Scam and its not as you probably have viewed it in your mind. This post is more like an alert to alert all diamond bank internet banking service users against scammers or fraudsters trying to steal their account details.
This is actually not the first time I have been getting scam emails on my yahoo mail account. Infact, I’d get a minimum of around 15 scam mails daily but for some time now, none has been interesting as the diamond bank internet banking scam.
I actually received the first mail around 21st December, 2013. The Sender Name reads ‘Diamond PLC‘ and the Subject reads ‘Important information: Your account maintenance‘.
I actually smiled the first time I got the message. Do you know why? Because I do not operate with Diamond bank neither do I have a diamond bank account so how come I am getting a message from the bank about account maintenance knowing fully well that I don’t own a diamond bank account.
As at that time, I couldn’t investigate much because as you probably know, links in spam folder on yahoo mail cannot be clicked hence I had to close the mail.
Just yesterday, I got another mail from same impersonating Diamond bank and this time, it appeared on my direct inbox which means……Investigation time!
As usual, the mail comes with the sender as ‘Diamond PLC‘ but this time, it came with the subject ‘You have 1 new message‘. The content of the message reads thus:

DIAMOND Bank Online
Upon clicking on the http://www.diamondbank.com hyperlink, you will be redirected to a page which looks very much as the official diamond bank internet banking login website but guess what, its fake!
Looking clearly at the address bar, the url on the page is http://www.documentingmedicine.com/audio/diamondonline.diamondbank.com/web/guest/home16b8.html?p_p_id=58&p_p_lifecycle=0&p_p_state=maximized&p_p_mode=view&tabs1=Already%20Registered? instead of https://diamondonline.diamondbank.com/web/guest/home?p_p_id=58&p_p_state=maximized. From that instance alone, you should know its a scam site with the intention of stealing diamond bank internet banking users details.
Secondly, when you click on the request or forgot password tab(on the fake page), you will be redirected to a page not found but on the official diamond bank internet banking website, you are truly redirected to a page where you can request for your forgotten password.
Is that clear enough?
I understand that some people might have fallen for this and I strongly advice that you change your login details immediately before its too late but for the benefit of those who are yet to insert their details or receive the mail from the fraudstars, be at alert buddy. Do not fall for it. Like I always advice people, be watchful on website address before logging your details.
